# Activating the GRAVITY Edit Mode GRAVITY's intuitive interface includes an Edit Mode designed for users who have the necessary permissions to alter content within a specific site. This capability is visually cued by the presence of a pencil icon, a universal symbol of editing and customization. ![[gravity-control-actie-edit-mode.jpg]] ## How to Activate Edit Mode as an Author Once author permissions are assigned, a user with the role of an Author or a member of an Author-Audience can activate Edit Mode: 1. Visit the website where you have been granted editing rights. 2. Locate the pencil icon, which serves as the indicator and switch for GRAVITY Edit Mode. 3. Click on the pencil icon. This action will switch the interface to Edit Mode. If the pencil icon is not visible, ensure you are logged in with the correct user account that has the authoring permissions, or check with the admin to confirm your author status. ## How to Grant Author Permissions in GRAVITY Admin Site Before users can activate Edit Mode, they must be designated as Authors. As an Admin, you can authorize users as Authors, in the [[Admin Site]], in two distinct ways: ### Direct User Assignment 1. Navigate to the GRAVITY Admin Site. 2. Click on Sites and select the site you wish to manage. 3. Go to the Authors tab within the selected site settings. 4. Here, you can add a user directly as an Author by entering their user information (e.g., username or email). ### Creating and Adding an Authors-Audience 1. In the GRAVITY Admin Site, go to the [[Audiences]] section. 2. Create a new Audience, ensuring it encompasses all users intended to have Author permissions across multiple sites – this will be your Author-Audience. 3. Once your Author-Audience is set, return to the Sites section. 4. Select the site you want to assign the audience to and click on the Authors tab. 5. Add the newly created Author-Audience to the site, thereby granting all included users the rights to edit the chosen site’s content. 6. Save your settings to finalize the permissions. > [!info]- More information on [[User Roles]]  > ## Toggling GRAVITY Edit Mode with Keyboard Shortcuts The keyboard shortcut **CTRL+ALT+G** serves as a toggle to activate and exit the GRAVITY Edit Mode in specific software applications.
